The facility is equipped with an ABI 4700 Proteomics Analyzer (MALDI/TOF-TOF) mass spectrometer for performing matrix assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) TOF analysis and is also capable of doing MALDI M-MS analysis. This instrument is made for high performance analysis of tryptic digests and looking at peptide fingerprints (trypsin digests of proteins). Protocols for doing in gel digestion is located under protocols in the left hand directory. Unfortunately, this instrument is plagued with problem after problem that keep it in a constant state of repair. Please call to see its status. The Bruker Autoflex MALDI-tof has proven to be a reliable instrument used for peptide finger printing.
